-----------------------------------------------------------------------| Climate | Zones | Recommendations | Getting there | In order to preserve the natural splendor of this National Park, the Autoridad Única de Área of Los Roques Archipelago classifies and determines the activities that can be carried out in Los Roques. It is important to respect this plan so future Venezuelans and visitors generations would be able to enjoy every wonder that this Caribbean paradise has to offer.
Los Roques Archipelago National Park is divided in six zones:
• Integral Protection Zone: it includes the keys needing greater protection since here many of the species of the archipelago nest and grow. It’s only allowed scientifics researches, previous authorization from the National Park Superintendence.
• Zone of Management Natural Environment: comprises the keys and the zone of Los Corrales creek not belonging to any other zone, as well as side-line waters of the archipelago; it is permitted to stroll by boats, navigate sail or motor boats through indicated routes, to sport fishing and to watch and photograph nature.
• Primitive Marine Zone: in addition to the activities specified above, it is possible to swim, snorkel, scuba dive, hike following demarcated footpaths and watch the nature in groups less than 15 persons.
• Recreation and Services Zone: these zones occupy the north-west sector of the archipelago and those that have been occupied by residents (as the Gran Roque, the navigation channel and Dos Mosquises Sur key). Besides the aforementioned activities, they are suitable for camping, nautical sports like sailing, skiing, etc.
• Special Use Zone: this is the location for the Biology Marine Station at Dos Mosquises, which develops research programs. Visits with previous authorization of the National Park Institute are allowed.
